• Computer forensic is a hybrid science which offers professionals a systematic approach to perform comprehensive investigation in order to solve computer crimes. The needs for computer forensic experts are growing in corporations, law firms, insurance agencies, and law enforcement. Organizations are now realizing that evidence retrieved from computers and other digital media are becoming more relevant to convicting hackers and criminals. Though this digital evidence can be powerful, but if it is not retrieved through proper investigative procedure, it can be easily damaged and ruled inadmissible in a court of law. Cyber forensics is of paramount importance to security structure of organizations.

The course on cyber forensic is a foundation course and highlights the essential elements of cyber forensics.  The course is also mapped to CHFI certification. The course will help you gain a firm understanding of digital and computer forensics domain. Although cyber crime activity and security breaches continue to rise, business requirements often take precedence over security requirements. This precedence leaves applications, systems and networks vulnerable to intrusion.

When a breach occurs, the forensic analyst must locate the point of compromise. The mission criticality of the compromised application, system or network determines the level of investigation. A full forensic examination is less likely on a highly critical system because the system cannot be shut down or slowed down to do a full backup. The course opens up your ability to critically investigate various cyber attacks and system anomalies following forensically sound principles to preserve substantial evidences. This course provides hands-on experience in different computer forensics situations that are applicable to the real world. Students will learn different aspects of digital evidence: ways to uncover illegal or illicit activities left on disk and recovering files from intentionally damaged media with computer forensics tools and techniques.
